In Greek mythology, Artemis is the goddess of the hunt, nature, and wild animals. She is also associated with childbirth, chastity, and the moon. Artemis is often depicted with a bow and arrow and is accompanied by nymphs. 

Meaning 

• Hunting

  Artemis is the goddess of hunting, and she is often depicted with a bow and arrow. She is also known as the Mistress of Animals because she protected young animals.

• Nature

  Artemis is the goddess of nature, and she is often said to roam the forests and mountains.

• Chastity

  Artemis is the goddess of chastity, and she swore never to marry. She is often presented as a counterpoint to the passionate Aphrodite.

• Moon

  Artemis is associated with the moon, and in later times she was identified with Selene, the personification of the moon.

Roman equivalent

Artemis's Roman equivalent is Diana. She was the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. 

Worship

Artemis was one of the most venerated Greek deities, and she was especially loved by the Romans.
